Parish project update

Parish project update

Back in 2015 the village of Nailstone was awarded conservation status. Since then the Parish Council have been working towards enhancing and developing the conservation area alongside the village as a whole. We worked closely with village resident Richard Stinson and his company Brookstone Creative to design a logo for the council but to utilize within the village. Our brief was to create something that represented the village, after discussions and various designs it was agreed that we would utilise a design that depicted the spire of our Grade II* listed church seen though a mining wheel, representing the mining history of the village.

The first phase was to provide heritage street plates and with the support of a Heritage grant from HBBC these were installed in 2017.

We applied for a Parish and Community Initiative grant to support the purchase and installation of new and replacement benches around the village, alongside replacing two noticeboards and installing one in Church Meadow. A village sign was also commissioned using the design created by Richard. The Parish Council has worked closely with the borough and district council and the church to install all of these items.
